Frequently Asked Questions

Helpful guidance for Yur Food™ — photograph meals with AI, enter them manually, and keep a nutrition history with optional Apple Health.

Core Help

What is Yur Food™?

Yur Food is an iOS nutrition logging app. Photograph meals with From Photo (AI analysis), add meals with Enter, optionally sync with iCloud, and write confirmed estimates to Apple Health.

Where can I download Yur Food?

Yur Food is available on the App Store for iPhone and iPad.

How much does Yur Food cost?

Yur Food is a free download. Enter (manual meals), browsing, editing, export, and Apple Health writes after you confirm remain free.

Cloud From Photo analysis uses OpenAI credit packs purchased in the App Store:

  • 25 Credits — $0.99
  • 100 Credits — $2.99

1 credit is used per From Photo analysis. There is no subscription and no free OpenAI analysis trial. Buy packs in Settings → OpenAI Credits.

See OpenAI Credits for details. Apple Intelligence Full Access will appear in a future update on supported devices.

Do I need an OpenAI API key?

No. App Store builds do not use bring-your-own API keys. Analysis runs through Yur Food’s service when you spend credits.

Does Yur Food use Apple Intelligence?

Apple Intelligence photo analysis with a one-time Full Access unlock will be offered in a future update on supported iPhones and iPads.

At launch, use OpenAI credits for From Photo, or add items with Enter any time.

How do I add entries?

On the Add tab:

  • From Photo — choose a meal photo for AI analysis when you have OpenAI credits. Review the estimate, then save.
  • Enter — add meals manually any time.
How does OpenAI analysis work?

When you use From Photo with credits, Yur Food sends the photo to its analysis service (powered by OpenAI) to suggest calories, macros, and food descriptions. You review and edit every suggestion before saving.

Credits are purchased through the App Store — see OpenAI Credits.

How does Yur Food use Apple Health?

In the app, Apple Health features use this heart icon (the same symbol shown on Save and in Settings).

Yur Food can optionally write nutrition you review and save to the Health app. This is off only if you turn it off — control it in Settings → Apple Health with Save to Apple Health.

When Apple Health is on, you will also see the heart icon and a short note on:

  • Enter (manual meal) — before you save
  • From Photo review — before you save

What gets written (write-only; Yur Food does not read Health data): calories, protein, carbohydrates, fat, fiber, sugar, and sodium for the meal you confirmed. Permission is requested on the first save. You can change Health permissions anytime in the Health app or iOS Settings.

Where is my data stored?

By default, meal history and photos are stored locally on your device. You can optionally enable iCloud Documents sync to keep records across your Apple devices.

Can I export my data?

Yes — export is always free. Yur Food supports CSV, PDF, or ZIP from the Meals / History tab.

What should I do if something isn’t working?

Try closing and reopening the app first. If the issue continues, send us a message from the Home page with your device model, iOS version, your credit balance if relevant, and what happened.

How quickly will support respond?

We review support requests regularly and prioritize account access and data-related issues first.
